Every cat owner knows this scenario: felines perched on a windowsill, staring at the world outside. Using the silhouette of one of her cats as inspiration, Jennifer charted a cat motif and began imagining a sweater on which they could "sit." A garterstitch yoke on a relaxed raglan suited the quiet peace of a cat lounging where it could catch the sun. Work the cats in intarsia for a fabric that matches the rest of the sweater, or work them in duplicate stitch after completing the rest of the garment. The cats are easy to customize (Jennifer chose gray and white to honor her cats Peake and Watson)— make each cat a different color, or give the cats stripes, spots, or patches. If you prefer your cats looking at you, add eyes and whiskers with embroidery thread or buttons.
