Rugs present some unique weaving challenges. They can be rustic, elegant, or just plain fun, but they also have to be, well-woven and rugged, to stand up to years of use. This Online Workshop was filmed on location at The Mannings Handweaving School in rural Pennsylvania. Throughout 15 video lessons and 4 rug weaving projects Tom explains how to weave a good rug: everything you need to know to successfully and comfortably weave attractive, sturdy rugs you’ll delight in having underfoot.

In this Online Workshop you’ll learn:

  • Exactly what to look for when deciding on a loom for rug weaving
  • About rug shuttles, temples, and other tools that make rug weaving more successful (and easier on the weaver)
  • How to choose and prepare materials for rug weaving
  • Dozens of tips for weaving rep, rag, and boundweave rugs
  • Cover braids, fringes, binding, and other finishing techniques

Great teacher
Rating
Tom gave a 2-day course on rug weaving at the Missouri Fiber Retreat and it is obvious that he had great experience and is a great instructor. If this video course is anything like his in-person course, it is well worth the cost. Review by Matthew (Posted on 11/30/2017)
