OK for beginners, although the stitch patterns are attractive
This is just two identical rectangles, which you stitch part way up the sides, leaving armholes. You also stitch a little bit along the top from the edges toward the middle, leaving a hole for your head. There is zero fitting, but it fills a need for a lightweight sweater for beginners, as it is not intimidating at all. Because it is made from two identical rectangles before the attractive border is added, it would be easy for even someone with very little experience to alter, to make wider or longer (although it does come fairly wide). I would recommend marking along the top first to see how much you should leave open for a comfortable head opening, and then mark how high the sides should be joined so that they do not bind under the arms.

I expected more from the pattern for the price, although it does have the benefit of being extremely easy to resize in length, width, or shape. (The front and back do not need to be identical.) I plan to try it out in a thinner yarn (which will change the number of stitches drastically), lengthen it, and add short sleeves with the same border as the bottom for the second go-around. When I am happy with the final result, I will convert the first garment into a decorative bag with the border facing upward, by just stitching the armholes and neck opening closed and adding straps and a simple lining.
