Craft a signature bezel that incorporates bezel making, stone setting, sawing, soldering, and more into one stylish end result. Be inspired to design around your own unique stone and include these same technique to create your own stylish bracelet design.

Required Materials:

  • Turquoise cabochon
  • Fine silver bezel wire, 26 gauge
  • Jump ring, 18 gauge by ⅜ inch
  • Sheet silver, 20 gauge for bezel backing and cuff; 16 gauge for cuff overlay
  • EZ wire solder
  • Liver of sulfur
TOOLS
  • HAND: Sanding block (made by stapling 220 grit emery paper onto an 8 by 10 by 5/8 inch piece of plywood), flat nose pliers, flush cut side cutter, scribe, disk cutter with a ½ inch cutter, shear or saw
  • SOLDERING: Soldering pick, torch, soldering surface
  • FORMING: Pipes (2) for bending bracelet: 1¼ and 1½ outside diameter each and about 6 inches long, ring mandrel, mallet for bending cuff
  • FINISHING: I sand with 80 grit, then a worn 400 grit expanding drum running under water for cooling. After sanding, I polish using cloth buffing wheels running tripoli, white diamond and then red rouge.
  • OTHER: Texturing implement of some sort - chisel, Mizzy wheel on a flex shaft, roller printing - anything to make a texture on the back of the overlay.
