The Traditional Knits for Babies Pattern Collection Includes:

Diamonds And Hearts Baby Bonnet by Judith Durant
Digital Pattern
This Victorian-style lace and beaded baby bonnet is worked in one piece from the top of the crown downward to the ruffled edging. To shape the top and sides, the back stitches are put on a holder while the front and sides are worked back and forth, decreasing along the sides.

The back stitches are then rejoined with the others and the ruffled edging is added, worked in the round. The beaded motifs are worked in bead knitting, i.e., the beads are knit into the stitches. The ties are made from twisted cords.

Cabled Baby Booties by Jeanne McCanless
Digital Pattern
These intricate baby booties feature cables, pointed cuffs, and garter stitch soles.

These sweet baby booties are worked in a soft superwash sock yarn. The charts are fun to follow for the intermediate to advanced knitter. You will love creating this heirloom project for the special baby in your life.

Chinese Silk Baby Carrier by Lily Chin
Digital Pattern
Lily Chin’s gorgeous knitted silk baby carrier features a geometric motif. Baby carriers are known in nearly all Asian cultures. On a recent trip to China, Lily saw many in use even today, inspiring her to create

Chinese carriers have a square or oblong body with a long strap extending from each corner and may be worn either in front or in back. Traditionally, the center square is 15 to 16 inches (38.1 to 40.6 cm) across.

Beloved Baby Bonnet by Kathleen Sperling
Digital Pattern
No Regency-era layette would be complete without a bonnet. This sweet little cap was inspired by an extant hand-embroidered infant's bonnet from the Regency era.

It is knitted at a very fine gauge but is so small that it won't take too long to work up. The delicate lacy pattern bestows an heirloom quality. Perfect for every baby.

Lithuanian Baby Mittens by Donna Druchunas
Digital Pattern
With striped cuffs and a floral motif, these baby mittens are made in a style frequently seen in the Baltic Sea city of Klaipe.da, Lithuania's third largest city.

As you will use only a few yards of each of the contrasting colors, you will have enough yarn left over to make several additional pairs of mittens or perhaps even a small newborn sweater!
