Weave in more places with this convenient eBook!

New and experienced weavers alike are always on the lookout for new weave-structure patterns. The Weaver's Idea Book presents a wide variety of patterns for the simple rigid-heddle loom, accompanied by harness drafts for multishaft looms. The techniques include leno, Brooks bouquet, soumak, and embroidery on fabric. Each chapter contains weaving patterns along with swatches illustrating the techniques, accompanied by step-by-step photography.

The book is arranged by structure or type of weave, from variations on plain weave to doubleweave. With traditional patterns from around the world, bands, and fabrics woven on two double heddles, The Weaver's Idea Book brings together a variety of ways to create exquisite cloth. Weaving tips and tricks help weavers at all levels achieve their textile dreams. In addition to pattern drafts, Jane offers project ideas that guide the reader through creating functional woven projects, from wearables to home decor.

Weaving, especially on rigid-heddle looms, is enjoying a resurgence, and contemporary weavers are in need of a book to bridge the divide between basic books and complex text designed for advanced weavers with sophisticated tools. Celebrating the immense potential for creativity possible with the simplest of tools, The Weaver's Idea Book opens new avenues for exploration on both the rigid-heddle and multishaft looms.

Very useful book.
Very useful book! It is a lot of ideas for creativity and creation of own creative projects. It is convenient to use as the reference book. Review by Yulia (Posted on 10/14/2015)
Delighted
The book is organized well, has great written and picture instructions covering basic concepts, tips as well as the patterns. The samples are well done, clearly showing the details of the pattern and are often shown in single and multiple colors. I appreciate the wire binding so the book stays open & flat for easy reference. I have both a rigid heddle and an eight-shaft loom, so I'm delighted to have both sets of instructions for many of the pattern samples. Review by Irene (Posted on 7/31/2015)
Outstanding volume! Bought two copies!
This is the most helpful resource for rigid heddle looms that I've found to date. It's comprehensive, clear, and abundantly illustrated, with very high production values. It's such a good resource that I've bought two copies, one to keep at home with my 32-inch Kromski Harp and one to keep at our weekend place with my 24-inch Kromski Harp. :-)

The reviewer who gave this one star apparently didn't understand that this is not primarily a project book, it's a techniques book that teaches you drafts and technique and color use, etc. It helps you to envision what kind of cloth you can create. And the helps for translating into 4-shaft drafts are there, in fact.

I think this book is terrific! And I've recommended it to everyone on the Rigid Heddle Loom Weaving page on Facebook...

Disappointed
I was very disappointed in this book. It did not have the variety of creative projects I was expecting. I specifically ordered it because it said it had creative projects and while focused on rigid heddle directions, it included the multi-shaft directions as well - Well in fact it did not! So very disappointed. Most items I have ordered from Interweave I have really liked: their quality is good and the item is as portrayed. But not so this one! Alas a disappointment!!!
