The Hat by Jan Brett
Hardcover

"When Lisa's woolen stocking flies off the clothesline, Hedgie finds it and pokes his nose in. He tries to pull it out, the stocking gets stuck on his prickles—and the fun begins. Many animals laugh at Hedgie, especially when he pretends he's wearing a new hat. But in the end, it is clever Hedgie who has the last laugh. Jan Brett's luminous paintings of a Scandinavian farm and the forest around it are bathed in northern light, as the snow begins to fall and the story begins, in this delightfully original companion book to The Mitten." - janbrett.com

The Hat Stocking Knitting Pattern by Linda Ligon
Pattern in Magazine

The Hat Stocking is an interpretation of the stocking illustrated in The Hat by Jan Brett (New York: G.P. Putnam's Sons, 1997). In the book, the stocking is sported as a hat by a curious hedgehog; in our interpretation, the "hat" has been made into a Christmas stocking, into which you could tuck a copy of The Hat for Christmas morning.
