Description
This beret uses a four-row honeycomb brioche stitch all over to create a soft, fluid beret that always drapes just so. The designer adds an optional crocheted flower for punch.
Finished Size: 17 ½ (21)” circumference at brim when stretched as worn, to fit a child (woman). Hat shown in woman’s size.
Yarn: Sublime Angora Merino (80% merino, 20% angora; 130 yd [119 m]/50 g): #42 husk (MC), 1 (2) ball(s); #41 linen (CC), about 2 yd. Yarn distributed by Knitting Fever.
Yarn weight: #3 – Light
Gauge: 24 sts and 32 rnds = 4″ in twisted 1×1 rib on smaller needle; 14 sts and 36 rnds = 4″ in honeycomb st on larger needle.
Needles: Brim-size 5 (3.75 mm): 16″ circular (cir). Hat-size 8 (5 mm): 16″ cir and set of 4 or 5 double-pointed (dpn). Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.
Notions: Markers (m); tapestry needle; sewing needle and thread; 40 size 8 ½ glass seed beads (shown: Mill Hill #18820 opal persimmon).
