Scottish Spindle in Ash Wood

Each ash wood spindle is hand-turned by Scott Snyder of Snyder Spindles, and features a whorl-less, cone-shaped body and crossing notches cut into the bottom. The small bell shape on the bottom increases the visibility of the crossed notches from the side, and the deep notches hold the singles yarn in place and keep it from slipping.

The popular Scottish Spindle sold out in record time! Place your pre-order today for the next batch, expected to begin shipping April 20th, 2018.

The Scottish spindle makes a beautiful and quite practical addition to a spinner’s toolbox. A traditional type of spindle from Scotland also known as a dealgan (pronounced jal-a-gen), these spindles have become increasingly popular around the world for their sturdiness, ease of use, and beauty.

If you’re new to Scottish spindle spinning, order your spindle today and get started with Kiersten Flannery’s blog post, “You Need to Try Spinning on a Scottish Spindle,” and then read her entire article in the Winter 2018 issue of Spin Off.
