Very good
I really love this video. I have no access to in person classes, so it has been very useful. It is clear, and full of tips. I think it also coveys the author's love for fibers and spinning and I appreciated that.
Thank you!

Good for beginners, but . . .
This is an excellent introduction for those starting to use spindles. The instruction is clear, friendly, and the actual spinning explanations are clear, as are useful and often neglected hints on things such as how much leader is 'best' and making a firm ball from your singles. For someone needing confidence and a visual reference 'kick start' I don't think this DVD could be bettered. However, it covers only standard drop/suspension spindles (top-weighted are used for 90% of the spinning). I was hoping it would cover some of the other points mentioned in the book, such as the Turkish (cross/self-balling) spindle. I was particularly dissapointed to find nothing on using the Russian/supported spindles. Certainly, keeping the spindles to the most common is a wise thing for most beginners, but one reason I looked to purchase book and DVD was the fact I am interested in the different kinds and have no-one to watch using anything more exotic than a bottom-whorl spindle . . . which I already do, and was hoping for some time showing the basics of using, for example, Navajo, bowl-supported etc. Review by Ruth Sard (Posted on 8/14/2012)
