Needles & Hooks
A knitter without needles is like a chef without utensils. Whether you knit or you crochet, knitting needles and hooks are just as important to creating a beautiful project as yarn. For knitters, we carry a wide variety of knitting needles including single-point needles, double-point knitting needles, circular needles as well as interchangeable knitting needle sets that twist or click. We even have square, ergonomic knitting needles that are perfect for those who suffer from arthritis, or for anyone looking for a comfortable pair of needles. Knitting needles also come in a variety of sizes and materials. The needle size and type are important factors in achieving successful results. Generally, the size of the needle and the yarn weight should complement each other; for lace weight, use 0 to 3 size needles and for chunky weight, use size 11 and above.
If you are new to the world of knitting, you may be wondering what the difference is between single-point needle, double-point and circular needles. Single-point (straight needle) is the traditional type of needle that comes to mind when most people think of knitting. They are best for flat knitting and for projects that work in rows such as scarves, baby blanket or dish towels. Double-point needles are shorter than single points and have points on both ends. They are used for making smaller knitted projects such as mittens, socks and fingerless gloves. Circular needles are what you reach for when a project is too big to fit on straight needles or for knitting in the round — knitting in a spiral-like manner without turning your work. They are used for hats, sweaters, oversized blankets and more.
For crocheters, we carry a wide variety of crochet hooks including those made of metal or wood, and crochet hooks with additional padding to help tired hands. Just like knitting needles, crochet hooks come in a range of sizes. For those interested in Tunisian crochet, we also have crochet hook sets that can help you create stunning finished Tunisian crochet projects. We can't wait to see what you knit or crochet using our knitting needles and crochet hooks!
