In the Mixed Media on Altered Paper Video Download, mixed-media artist Sandrine Pelissier will show you how to alter regular drawing paper into a surface on which you can paint with fluid acrylics or watercolor, all while still being able to manipulate the paint and correct mistakes! Using a landscape sketch and a figure drawing, Sandrine will show you, and student Amy Jones, how to add gel medium to the paper to create a slick surface, and then add layers of paint to color your drawings. You’ll then add simple details with a dip pen to give your paintings the finishing touches.

About the Artist
Originally from France, Sandrine Pelissier is a watercolor, acrylic and mixed-media artist who has been living in Vancouver, Canada for the past 16 years. Her work has been collected and exhibited extensively in Canada and internationally.
At the core of her work is an exploration of the balance between opposite concepts, such as the symmetry of geometric patterns and the asymmetry of organic designs, transparency and solidity, reality and imagination.
Her paintings have been published in books and magazines including The Artist’s Magazine, Watercolor Artist, Acrylic Artist, Incite 2: Color Passions and more. She is the author of Fearless Watercolor for Beginners (North Light, 2015). Learn more about Sandrine at her website, PaintingDemos.com.
