Create nature-inspired paintings!
In Acrylic Painting Studio: Natural Compositions, artist Staci Swider will show you, and student Amy Jones, how to make nature-inspired paintings using techniques that allow the plants and flowers to develop organically, much like they do in nature. After creating a colorful underpainting, Staci demonstrates how to use fluid paint to develop an organic grid. She’ll then show you how to interpret those lines and intersections as horizon lines, stems and flower buds. As you create your stylized floral landscape, you’ll also get Staci’s tips and tricks for creating color harmony and adding finishing touches with oil pastels.

About the Artist
Producing exceptional fine art inspired by craft, Aiken, South Carolina painter Staci Swider’s work reinterprets the patterns and textures found in function-driven objects such as quilts and baskets as dreamscape imagery that straddles the line between figurative and abstract. Staci’s visual history includes stints as both a corporate and freelance textile designer, professional painter and author. Her work has been exhibited at the Morris Museum of Art as well as many galleries across the Southeast. Staci is the author of Acrylic Expressions (North Light, 2016).
