Spacer 20x20 pixels The Lace Sampler from Triinu Knitting Kit in Natural White includes:
  • The digital edition of PieceWork November/December 2012

Download this popular issue instantly! This November/December 2012 issue of PieceWork turns to the stories of people from many cultures who immigrated to the United States and brought their needlework traditions with them. Projects in this jam-packed issue include a Shetland stole to knit that tells the story of Cinderella, a crocheted lace edging, a coaster worked in Hardanger embroidery, and a traditional African banner to appliqué.

This issue features the pattern for the Lace Sampler from Triinu to Knit, designed by Nancy Bush

From the pages of the Triinu magazine #111 Winter 1980, this "Haapsalu
rätiku kirjariba 10-ne mustriga” (“Haapsalu Scarf Writing Strip with 10 Patterns”) article celebrates Helve Poska's knowledge of lace knitting that she shared with the Estonian community that was displaced during WWII. Nancy Bush has recreated it as closely as possible.

  • One skein of Simply Shetland's Jamieson's Ultra Lace Weight in #104 Natural White

Knit the lace sampler with Natural White yarn, exactly as it appears in the magazine. This kit offers one skein of Simply Shetland's Jamieson yarn in Ultra Lace Weight. A skein of this 50% Shetland/50% Lambswool blend contains 212 yards of yarn, plenty to knit the lace sampler from PieceWork November/December 2012.

I wouldn't order this kit made with shetland wool
I loved the lace pattern and the kit was a bargin. Shetland wool is
not a good choice of wool for a next to your skin project , as in a lace scarf . Have tried shetland wool from many companies but never found any to be soft to your skin. Never. The yarn should have been merino, mohair, or alpaca. I've learned my lesson. If any one knows of good shetland wool I'd like to hear about it.

Not a review but thanks to the two people who posted reviews. The online description was so vague that I held off ordering it. The text really didn't describe what was in the kit. I'm really, really glad I didn't order it. It's not like Interweave's reputation to do something like this - poor item description, lack of details, etc. Hopefully, it won't happen again. The pattern looks fairly easy to knit if a person is an experienced knitter. Thus, I won't be ordering the kit. Much appreciation to Kath and Kellie. Review by Brenda (Posted on 6/24/2015)
Agree with Kellie
I had hoped that Interweave had changed their ways and at least sent the pattern too. The yarn is very traditional, and good for this project if that is what you like, but not at all luxurious. But with the cost of the yarn and the shipping costs (without the pattern) it is a waste of money. Review by Kath (Posted on 1/1/2015)
I don't know why I bothered
I could have ordered this yarn from elsewhere for half the price. I don't feel like I got a kit when they mail me yarn and no printed pattern. I knew I was going to have to print up my own pattern with this, but getting just a ball of yarn and an invoice was anticlimactic. Interweave needs to include either the printed, highlighted pattern from the electronic version, or include chocolate or stitch markers with the Estonian flag (or something) to make it feel like a kit. I got this and had no connection to it wit the pattern. Review by Kellie (Posted on 8/17/2014)
