To change tips, match up the markings on the needle base and cable tip, then insert the tweezer tool into the holes, squeeze gently, and pull out the cable.

Love, hate relationship
I was so excited to get these needles because like others I owned a fixed circular pair and loved them. The needle itself is great but the connection and join are disappointing. I had a heck of a time taking them apart with the tool. The join is not smooth and my yarn kept catching as I was trying to knit in the round. I with that they would correct these issues and I would gladly buy again. I am trying to return my set now. Review by Virginia (Posted on 6/14/2018)
Good Needles Bad tweezer tool, You can fix it !!!!
It's so sad to see so many returns because of a bad tweezer. Believe me, I had the same problem, it was impossible to unlock the needles from the cable after connection. I have noticed that the tweezer included in this set was different from what was show in the video. In the video, the tweezer did not have the two tangle shaped plastics on each side of the tweezer prawns. These plastics suppose to allow the the prawns to go into the needle holes more perceptively, but in reality, it does the opposite - it prevents the prawns to go in deep enough to unlock. To fix this problem, simply shave off the trangle-shaped plastics using a packaging knife. Review by Tingting (Posted on 4/19/2018)
I love the Kollage square needles: the tips, the metal, the cords, and in theory, this should be a great set. However, if you get it you have to accept that at least a third to half of the needles are not machined correctly and either A) will not click securely together so the cords and needles stay attached (no matter how much bending of the prongs you try) or B) you can't get the prongs in at all. This is frustrating and disappointing. I wish there were a way to replace the defective parts...

The release tool is fiddly but works.

changing much too difficult!
I was really looking forward to these needles as the cubic seems to be easier on my arthritic hands. I hooked the needles to the cords and started knitting away. The joins are a little rough and had some trouble with yarn sticking. Biggest problem was when I went to remove the needles from the cable. I still have one I can't separate. I'm going to try again, but if I can't get them apart I will need to return. Hope this can be worked out Review by Shirley (Posted on 12/27/2017)
Love these needles!
These are my go too needles. I like "pointier" needles and these are just right. I like the square needles too, their not as slippery to hold on to. Once I got the hang of changing the cords out, it was a breeze. This set has a lot of versality - love it! Review by June (Posted on 10/9/2017)
Please, fix the problems
I bought the original grey set, before the full pink set was available. I'd been breathlessly waiting for a square interchangeable set and LOVE knitting with the square needles, but have had one needle tip snap apart easily at the holes, so they seem very fragile. Also, CR, if you haven't had any snagging at the joins, try knitting something on sz 2!! I tried using these with very smooth lace-wt linen (which I thought wouldn't snag easily) and it was VERY difficult to move the stitches across the joins. After 1 row, I gave up and went back to my round permanent circulars. I have managed to use the tweezer tool so far, by being very careful, but the little nub on one side of it is wearing down and I don't know how much longer it will last. So...this set has so many things right with it, but also has some serious problems. Please, fix the problems so we can write glowing reviews about your square interchangeable set. Very disappointed - being returned.
Being returned for several reasons. The prongs on the tips seem to be very flimsy. There are no cord connectors available at all. If you want to connect two cables, you're out of luck. Epic fail! And I had a heck of a time trying to get the cable on the knitting tip. But I do love my well-used Kollage fixed circulars! That's why I bought these. Maybe after they "improve the product" as the Interweave CSR said, and I quote (chat, in writing). Review by Bruna (Posted on 2/15/2017)
Tweezer Tool Needs Redesign
I already had several Kollage straights and fixed circular sets and absolutely loved them. I bit the bullet and ordered this set several weeks ago. First time that i tried to switch needles the tweezer tool would not work. Interweave was great about immediately sending me another, but it also would not work. I ended up making one from a paper clip. Love the needles but hate the design of how they interchange. Review by ValR (Posted on 2/4/2017)
I love the flexibility, the way the square needles help me keep my stitches constructed. I didn't have any catching problems at the joins. The options are limitless with the short tips and long. A little caution with removing the needles, but worth the effort. I am hopeful these will last me a life time. A lot of pink, but I'll get over that. Interweave shipping was not on top of things, as it took way too long to get my shipment due to an error on their part, but they did make it right. Review by CR (Posted on 2/4/2017)
I absolutely love knitting with these needles. I love the clear size markings and the cables. I also love the case. BUT with little use, I've had two soft cables break at the point where the connector is. ALSO, as mentioned in other reviews, the tweezer is just awful. I'm sad to say this because I really love the product, but it is very pricey and one wouldn't expect these major problems. Review by Calliope (Posted on 2/2/2017)
too difficult to attach cord to tips
I love the multiple tip lengths in more sizes than the typical interchangeable set. However, attaching and detaching the cords to the tips is very difficult. I pulled the tips off the cord trying to disconnect them from the needle. Sigh Review by Roz (Posted on 1/19/2017)
The tweezer tool is absolutely useless!! For a set of this price, it is totally unacceptable for a piece of plastic that snaps. I can't use them as there is no other way of releasing the tips. Tried 4 of them after replacemenst sent and still the same problem. Until Kollage fix this problem, I wouldn't recommend. Review by Annieold (Posted on 1/7/2017)
