knit.wear spring 2012

Make room in your closet for 25 essential pieces from knit.wear. Our Spring 2012 issue of this special publication is packed with simple, flattering knits you'll want to wear right now.

This issue brings new yarn reviews, a couture finishing tip about using covered snaps by Kathy Augustine, a short-row tutorial with Erica Patberg, and an in-depth look at color with Glenna C. Harris. Each of the projects in this issue of knit.wear bring the thoughtful knitter a unique garment with intriguing details.

in this issue of knit.wear:

  • Knit Minimal: projects that focus on simple garments using just one or two stitches, unexpected yarns, and surprising silhouettes.
  • With Dimension: projects featuring knitted fabric that breaks out of flat planes with twisting, turning, and folding stitches.
  • On Air: projects that explore multiple ways to construct knitted fabrics that drape and flow.
  • Ruche: projects with gathered and raised textures that embody the early nineteenth-century French translation "beehive."
  • Seamless: circular, coherent, connected, consistent, continual, gapless, intact, joined, jointless, linked, logical, ordered, smooth, unbroken, unending, unlined--these projects fit the definition.

Knit Wear Spring 2012
Great patterns. Hope to use some of them soon. Review by Joan (Posted on 6/30/2015)
Brilliant; the BEST knitting magazine around.
Now this is classy knitting; elegant patterns that are simple yet 'different'. No dated styling here. The neutral yarn and use of texture and ingenious shaping rather than bright colour makes these garments new classics! The technical articles are great; one on the colour wheel which inspires me to use unusual combo's of colour and the other on short-row shaping. Thank you for showing me Japanese short row shaping - wonderful!

My 16 year old daughter very quickly found a garment she would like me to knit for her; Shadow Stripe Pullover - a very easy edge-to-edge knit 3/4 sleeve sweater using 2 weights of luxury yarn in the same colour to create soft vertical stripes. There are at least 5 patterns I would like to knit for myself that would look wonderful in the office or around town that have that 'edge' to make them 'different' such as the Twist Pullover by Cecily Glowik MacDonald and the Crimped Cardigan by Sarah Wilson. (I just can't wait to finish my current projects and get started on these.) The creative use of lace weight yarn to create a light fabric in a larger than usual gauge creates a lovely summery cardigan in the Medallion Edged Shrug by Katya Frankel, the exaggerated over-sized soft mobius cowl creates the perfect multifunctional wrap, shawl, bed or evening jacket in the Froth Mobius by Alice Tang and there are many others all begging to be knit and worn.

This single magazine has within its pages a creativeness that does not exist in other knitting magazines. I have been a fan of Interweave Knits for years, but this new magazine surpasses the standard set. Do yourself a favour and give this edition a try, you will be glad you did. Well done Interweave Press.

Great magazine!
I glanced through this issue at a store & immediately bought it. There are many patterns in it that I would make. I especially like the chart at the back that shows all the yarns used, including their yardage, weight & makeup. I could see myself knitting at least three of the projects, which is rare for me.
