Tiger Lily Tiger Lily, Scarlet Geranium, and Yellow Jassamine By Donna Druchunas
Included in the Physical Issue of PeiceWork March/April 2015

Donna Druchunas brings you three beautiful flowers to create. The patterns are adapted from The Floral Knitting Book by A Lady, published in London in 1847. As was typical for that time, no illustrations of the completed flowers appear in the book.

Donna embarked without knowing the size or appearance of the flowers. A very Victorian endeavor, indeed. Now you too can work up the three flowers with the instructions in PeiceWork March/April 2015 and yarn included in this kit.

Each flower uses Jamieson’s Shetland Spindrift, 100% wool yarn. Each skein is 115 yards (105.2 m)/25 gram (0.9 oz).

Gauge: 32 sts and 40 rows = 4 inches (10.2 cm) in St st
Needles, size 00 (1.75 mm)
Tapestry needle
Floral wire, 1 spool plus 2 straight pieces to be held together for each stem

Geranium Scarlet Geranium Knitting Pattern
By Donna Druchunas

The Scarlet Geranium flower was a bit more difficult for Donna to create. The Victorian instructions described a flower that was unfamiliar to Donna. The designer could not locate any photographs of a scarlet geranium that looked anything like her finished sample. The flower finished beautifully regardless.

Finished size:
scarlet geranium petal, about 4 inches (10 cm) wide

Jessamine Yellow Jessamine Knitting Pattern
By Donna Druchunas

The sample finishes with a feminine and delicate appeal. Donna researched what a Yellow Jessamine flower looked like and decided to just make a single bud. The flower traditionally grows in clusters on a bush.
