In the November/December 2019 issue of Lapidary Journal Jewelry Artist, you’ll discover the beauty of the American Southwest and how top jewelry artists make it their own in Deborah Yonick’s Trends column. Then you can learn to make your own southwestern-style jewelry designs with projects by Michael Anthony Cheatham and Karen J. Lauseng.

Cathleen McCarthy continues her look at revival style jewelry with profiles of three jewelry artists who bring the past into their present design. And Michael and Catherine Jensen’s contemporary designs also pay homage to the past.

If you want to use one of today’s top gemstones in your jewelry creations, take a look at Smokin’ Stones: Rhodolite. And if you’re a tool maven, check out Helen Driggs’s Cool Tools and Hip Tips column. She shows you the latest and greatest hand tools for your bench.

In this issue, you’ll also find great jewelry-making projects that will allow you to expand your repertoire of jewelry-making techniques. Noël Yovovich shows you how to make lovely titanium floral earrings. If you want to try chain maille (or if you’re already a chain maille fan), you’ll love Michele Brennan’s Sparkling Snowflake pendant. Kieu Pham Gray teaches you how to use wire to make a floating setting for an unusually shaped drusy. Holly Gage shows you how to simplify design elements to make a stylized design, and then she uses those elements to create a beautiful Hawaiian lei brooch.

If you’re trying to find business success in the jewelry selling field, Cathleen McCarthy shows how simple adjustments to your daily routine can really help.

Are you planning on going to the annual Tucson gem and jewelry shows? Then you must see Betsy Lehndorff’s article on surviving the shows. It’s a must for every show attendee.
