Tat a Garden-Trellis Doily by Mary H. McCarthy
featured in PieceWork July/August  2005
The reverse-stitch technique used in this project allows tatters to eliminate tying and cutting the threads between motifs as directed in some patterns. Today, the technique is sometimes called the "split ring" because the ring is made in two halves using two shuttlesone to begin the ring normally, the second to finish it using the reverse stitches. The reverse-stitch join is made by joining to the hand thread, then "popping" the join back through the picot.
Finished Size: 9 1/2 x 9 1/2 inches
Materials Needed: 2 tatting shuttles, crochet hook size 12
