written pattern problems
I gave 3 stars because I love the look of the patterns. However, if you actually want to make them...you have to be an expert (which I am) to crochet them. I've been crocheting since I was a child, and had to make lots of corrections to make the written patterns work. Example, in the Trapeze Tank, description of the X-Stitch (kind of important since it's the stitch used to make the entire pattern), the pattern should read "...6 times..." instead of "4 times". Easy for an expert to figure out, but impossible for someone just trying to work through the pattern.
You should require testing of patterns before you publish a book and place your name on it. Interweave...I expect more from you and wish I could trust products with your name.

Just a question regarding previous comments
I do not understand the written pattern complaints if there are charts to follow for each pattern. I believe that charts are so much easier to follow than written patterns at times. Typos or whatever, but to see the stitches drawn out, well that just perfect. I fell in love with a dress I found on a Russian website, unfortunately Google translate couldn't break her pattern down into English. She did supply mini charts of the pattern though and I was so grateful. Like the saying goes, "a picture tells a thousand words." Review by Donna (Posted on 5/6/2015)

Beautiful but not for a beginner
Love the patterns and am exited about how my pieces are turning out. I have 3 projects in the works. There have been errors in the pattern write ups on all three. Being able to read the symbolic patten solved the problem for two of them but the Sparkly tunic has issues if you are making anything other than the small size. I have written to Kristin for clarification but have not heard anything yet. Hopefully corrections will be posted soon. Review by Vandy (Posted on 3/28/2015)
Regretful purchase
At seeing some of the patterns offered, I decided to purchase this book. I SELDOM EVER purchase patterns considering how many free ones are available. I especially wanted to make the Queen of the Night beret as a gift. As experienced and celebrated a crocheter as Kristin Omdahl is, she sure doesn't know how to correctly write down a pattern. There was an error beginning in Rnd 4 where you are directed to "rep from * around" TWICE. Then in Rnd 6 where the decrease begins, the instructions have you starting in the first stitch when it is obvious you should begin in the 2nd stitch; otherwise, you have 2 stitches left unused at the end instead of one at each end. Rather than pay for sloppiness and frustration, I'll just go back to free patterns. Review by Janice (Posted on 3/2/2015)
Magnificent Book!
Kristin has done it again! I pre-ordered this book, based only upon the cover photograph and Kristin's prior work. I was thrilled when my copy arrived in the mail! The theme of "lace" holds this books together, but more than that it is another book of elegant and classy designs that flatter women of many shapes and sizes. As always, Kristin's designs are beautiful. This book includes a little bit of everything - from fanciful gauntlets to hats and even a skirt! Kristin includes cowls designed in the most fantastical ways, and has even created them so they can be worn multiple ways. You never realize just how much shaping she is building into her patterns; but when you are done - wow! it's perfect! The tunics included in this book are just gorgeous, and her incredibly clever use of changing hooks to vary gauge produces such strikingly beautiful results!

Proving yet again that she is a force to be reckoned with, the designs in this book use a wide variety of techniques to achieve their results. From traditional crochet to the use of motifs to Broomstick Lace to Hairpin Lace to Tunisian Lace and Bruges Lace it's all here! What's your favorite - Kristin has included it! The Bleeding Heart Shawl pictured on the cover is an amazing work of art. That pattern alone is enough to make you want to buy this book!

Then you open it up and turn the pages and realize it is virtually impossible to decide where to begin! The Simply Sparkly Tunic is just spectacular, and crocheted with sequined yarn would be really gorgeous for an evening out! The Trapeze Tank looks like it could this summer's go-to piece! The Flora Ombre Convertible Wrap can be worn so many ways that it is perfect for traveling! And the Felted Flower Bag really looks like laser-cut leather! How to decide?

The quality of the photographs in this book is fantastic. The written instructions are clear and complete, and all patterns are charted. Each also includes a schematic. Patterns are sized from S - 2X. I just can't imagine what else one could ask for! Don't miss out on this one!
