usefull inspiration for experienced crocheters
I enjoyed watching this class, and Robyn's relaxed, informal style. It was a bit too advanced for me, because the instructions are a bit vague, not easy to follow if you are a beginner. For the flaps and the hard brim there are no instructions at all, which surprised me.
The part about yarn was very good, and I didn't know you could make a hat from the bottom up, or use slip stich to make a brim.
Overall it's good for inspiration and ideas, but as a beginner I'd have to look for more detailed instructions elsewhere.
This was my first class from Interweave, and I found it quite fiddly to download (a zip file with two versions of the class, which took several hours), and in particular to watch on a tablet because memory is limited (ended up using dropbox). Also there are no chapters so it's difficult to navigate to a particular bit, or to go back where you left off.
It would be great to be able to watch them online.
It would also be useful to state the level of a class, in this case more intermediate than a beginner.

Great presenter, very clear, lots of info, would recommend
I have been designing machine knitting patterns for years, but recently have been getting the bug to try more hand stitching. Having done a little bit of crochet in the past, I figured it might be best to get back into that before starting on hand knitting. Thinking that small items such as hats, scarves, wristwarmers etc might be a good place to start - being not too complicated, I then realised that many hats have to be shaped, and made in the round. What could I do? I'm not that good at following diagrams in books. Thankfully I came across Robin's 'Design Your Own Crocheted Hat' which made everything clear. Robin is an excellent tutor. She describes instructions and demonstrates in a very lucid and easy to understand way, demistifying how to do top of hat shaping. I would never have been able to work out the formula for this by myself! There was also sections on different yarns, stitch patterns and design features such as brims, peaks etc. I will be looking out for more of Robin's videos, definately. The other great thing was, being downloadable, I git instant access (mre or less.) No waiting for parcels through the post. Bravo Interweave! Review by Beatrice Roberts (Posted on 10/11/2011)
