Create two paintings at once!

In Cathy Nichols' Collage and Painting Techniques for Storytelling Art video, you'll learn how to incorporate story and character into your artwork without the difficulty of drawing figures! Cathy teaches you, and student Amy Jones, how to start with a simple template to tell unique stories: here, the "House of Joy" and "House of Love." From selecting collage papers to painting for personality, bringing in words to adding sparkle, each step adds a new chapter to your story. Finally, you'll learn how to balance each composition and create connections to end up with a visually-united series!

In this video you will:

  • Transform a simple house shape into a character
  • Use color psychology to choose a palette
  • Learn to work with and apply gold leaf as a finishing touch
  • Work two related paintings side by side to create a series
