Bruges Lace Pattern Collection

In the nineteenth century, crochet was largely used to imitate traditional lace techniques, such as bobbin lace. One famous type of bobbin lace came from Bruges, Belgium, and crochet de Bruges was developed to imitate it. The simple, ribbon-like technique is well worth exploring with materials other than the thin, white cotton thread used in the original application of this lace-making. This collection introduces you to the technique with small projects: The Scamp Bandana, a Bruges Lace Border for attaching to either crochet or sewn projects, and the generous Road to Bruges scarf. As your comfort level grows, and your addiction takes hold, branch into the larger Swan Lake Shawl and the sassy Bruges Lace Skirt. Then learn to incorporate Bruges lace into the stylish Bruges Tunic.
