Inspired by a photograph of an antique baby bonnet, designer Laura Ricketts created the precious Bonnie Rose Baby Bonnet to Crochet for the 9th annual lace issue of PieceWork magazine.

This delicate filet crochet bonnet has a rose-motif panel and is fully customizable with charts for the alphabet and numerals, which allow the crocheter to add the baby's initials and birth date.

The bonnet was designed in parts because the filet-crochet section is time-consuming. Laura explains, "That way, if the bonnet is to be a gift, the crocheter can work the central panel ahead of time. After the birth, when the baby's initials and birth date are known, the crocheter can create the two side panels, netting, and trim." Brilliant!

Each kit contains the full May/June 2016 issue of PieceWork magazine with 7 additional lace projects, one ball each of Presencia America Fincrochet, size 60, 100% cotton thread, and DMC Cébélia, size 20, 100% cotton thread, and two Clover Soft Touch "Steel" Crochet Hooks in sizes 8 and 14—all you will need to create this beautiful heirloom.

Included in this kit:

PieceWork, May/June 2016
Print Magazine

Our 9th annual Lace issue includes knitted, crocheted, and tatted lace projects sure to inspire. Also enjoy articles on tatted and Haapsalu lace and personal stories about historic lace heirlooms.
