Polymer Clay Jewelry:
Mixed Media
with Christi Friesen
We’re excited you’re here!
The sky is truly the limit when it comes to mixed media designs involving polymer clay! In this workshop, Christi Friesen will give you a taste of the exciting possibilities that abound when you combine this versatile medium with epoxy clay, fiber, resin, and wire. You’ll make eight fascinating projects as you learn techniques for integrating these materials. And you won’t stop there – you’ll learn exactly how to bake and finish your jewelry so you’re ready to share it with the world.
In this workshop, you’ll learn how to
- condition your clay so it’s ready to use;
- use epoxy clay to incorporate tricky items like sand and glass shards into your polymer pieces;
- play with fiber, embedding it directly into your clay as well as making impressions;
- experiment with resin to mimic water and cast forms;
- manipulate wire as both a decorative and a supportive element;
- bake your clay in a conventional oven or a tabletop oven;
- apply after-effects like alcohol inks, glaze, and acrylic paints;
- add pin backs and other findings to turn your pieces into jewelry;
- and more!
