Description
Advance your jewelry making skills with this striking pendant project that takes its shape from an ancient spiculum, but adds a unique modern twist. Fuse on argentium granules to create added texture and depth.
Required Materials:
24 gauge Argentium® Silver
22 gauge or 20 gauge Argentium® Silver round wire
18K yellow (clean/no solder) wire or scrap metal (optional)
Paper, pencil, and ruler
Paper for template
Yellow flux and brush
Rubber cement or double-sided tape
Chain, leather, neck wire for pendant
Tools
LAYOUT: Sharpie® marker
HAND: Safety glasses, saw frame and saw blades (3 /0 or 4 /0), files: especially barrette, sandpaper on sanding stick, metal gauge, scribe, sinusoidal stakes or wooden blocks, anticlastic hammer, “closing” hammer, flush cutters
SOLDERING: Tweezers, charcoal block, preferably compressed charcoal like PaNa®, pickle (you can use
your regular silver pickle or a warm vinegar solution) , small dish for flux
POLISHING AND FINISHING: Small ball bur, small glass dish for patina, fine brass brush, liver of sulfur , Renaissance Wax® for sealing patina
