Difficult Instructions, Unclear Pattern (From an experienced knitter)
I've been knitting for 15 years, and I could not understand the written instructions for this chart, specifically row 1 of this cable pattern. m1, k1b&f, m1. Somehow you should get 4 increased stitches from this, but I only come out with 3.

Directions read: "k1b&f, insert left needle into vertical strand between 2 sts just made and knit into the front of the strand". From what I understood, you make a stitch out of the yarn between 2 stitches (it did not say to knit into the stitch below [k1b]). There is no mention of knitting the following stitch. Somehow this k1b&f should make 2 stitches, but I only got one (m1r essentially).

When trying to research how to do this method, it seems the k1b&f is not a common stitch, as no tutorials or instructions are found online other than in this pattern. Please find a better increase, or at the VERY least, tell me how many stitches I should increase by the end of the pattern repeat. I assume I should have 4 increases, but i was only able to make 3 (m1, k1b&f gave me 1 new stitch, and m1). If I know how many stitches to increase, maybe I can make something up.

Lastly, trying to navigate this Interweave website is tricky. There is no way to "contact the designer" to ask questions, and trying to find the place to write this review was difficult. They should have a big button that says "Review this product", rather than a tiny link. I'll stick to Ravelry for my pattern downloads.

I'll be frogging this beret.
