Good book for spinners
As a spinner I like the way this book details the techniques needed to prepare the fiber for each project. Not all is relevant and changes/substitutions can be made but it takes the guesswork out for those of us who like to start from scratch. I'm working on the alpaca poncho and the lace shawl at the moment. Review by Beverley (Posted on 4/12/2015)
great book !
I have a wonderful Knitting library, this is the only book I will knit each pattern. Review by Mariejose (Posted on 5/24/2014)
I have found this book to have ugly pictures, spelling mistakes, and using expensive yarns for patterns that will neither last nor pass the grade as givable git. A few charts are wrong. The written overviews of how to work a specific portion of the pattern and confusing. I consider myself an experienced knitter, for I have knitted for nearly 50 years. There isn't anything in this book I would either make or suggest to a less experience knitter to to try. I am going to donate this book to the library. I have no need to refer to it in the future. Adding to my handspun collection
Just placed my order and I am looking forward to this newer edition as I already have the first Homespun Handknit and have used it to make many things. As for the shipping problem that Patricia had - you use the "estimate shipping" tool to find out what your shipping options are. When you choose one your shopping cart automatically updates and you can see what your total will be, well before you place your order. Also, with the current sale I don't see how you could get the book at your LYS at a competitive price. However, I do believe it is important to support your LYS always. Very disappointed because shipping price not shown until check out complete
It is hard to enjoy a book on sale when the checkout price does not show up until after the transaction is completed.
I will purchase only from my local yarn store in the future.
The patterns alone are rather so so.

All New Homespun Handknit
After using the original "Homespun Handknit" for many years, I was pleasantly surprised to see the updated book. After flipping through the book in the bookstore, I saw several patterns I would knit, so I bought the book. The original book contains basic, simple, and rustic patterns. This new, updated book contains several lace projects and the patterns are sophisticated and fun. Many gift potential projects - I love it. I''ll update as I use the patterns.
