The Winter Sky Mittens draw their inspiration from traditional Norwegian Fana sweaters to evoke a sense of nostalgia. The mittens are worked in a soft sportweight wool in two colors; an afterthought thumb is added after knitting the body.

Difficulty Level: Intermediate
Finished Size: 8 (8½)” hand circumference and 9½ (10¾)” long. Mittens shown measure 8″.
Yarn: Harrisville Designs flyWHEEL (100% wool; 170 yd [155 m]/1¾ oz [50 g]): #901 birch bark (gray; MC), 1 (2) skein(s); #975 aquifer (blue; CC), 1 skein.
Needles Size: 1 (2.25 mm): set of double-pointed (dpn). Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.
Notions: Markers (m); waste yarn for thumb; tapestry needle.
Gauge: 30 sts and 44 rnds = 4″ in Lice patt.
