Description

The Welted Mitts are so versatile, you will want to make a whole batch of them! They are comfy, sproingy, and they knit up in two shakes of a lamb’s tail. There is no gusset, and no sewing is required.

Finished Size: 6¾ (7¾ , 8¾ )” (17 [19.5, 22] cm) circumference and 9½ ” (24 cm) or 8½ ” (21.5 cm) long to fit adult small (medium, large). Projects shown measure 7¾ ” (19.5 cm) circumference and 9½ ” (24 cm) long (version with no garter-stitch cuff) and 8½ ” (21.5 cm) long (version with garter-stitch cuff, with cuff folded in half).
Specific Yarn Used:Quince & Co. Lark (100% wool; 134 yd [123 m]/1¾ oz [50 g]): (version with no garter-stitch cuff) #106 Bird’s Egg (light blue), 2 skeins; (version with garter-stitch cuff) #143 Slate (dark blue), 2 skeins.
Needles: Size U.S. 7 (4.5 mm): set of doublepointed needles (dpns); size U.S. 6 (4 mm): two dpns (for garter-stitch cuff version only). Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.
Notions: Stitch marker; yarn needle.
Gauge: 18 stitches and 42 rounds = 4″ (10 cm) in Welted pattern with larger needles.
Notes:

  • The garter-stitch cuff is worked sideways and is knitted onto live stitches from the arm.
