Description

Work back and forth from the bottom up to create this mesmerizing knitted poncho. Pair with leggings or jeans, this poncho will look good with anything!

Difficulty: Easy

Finished Size: 47" wide and 31" long, excluding fringe. Poncho shown on model with 32" bust.

Specific Yarn Used: Lana Grossa Cool Wool Alpaca(70% virgin wool, 30% alpaca; 153 yd[140 m]/1.75 oz [50 g]): #07 light gray, 12 balls. Yarn distributed by Trendsetter Yarns.

Needles: Size 8 (5 mm): 40" circular (cir). Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.

Notions: Markers (m); tapestry needle; crochet hook for attaching fringe; two
1" buttons.

Gauge: 18 sts and 30 rows = 4" in double moss st.

Notes: This poncho is worked back and forth from the bottom up in separate pieces and seamed. The neck opening is edged with ribbing that is worked with the main piece. A buttonhole and button on each side can be used to create armholes. The back and front are worked slightly differently so that the double moss stitch pattern flows nicely over the shoulders. A circular needle is used to accommodate the large number of stitches. Slip stitches knitwise with yarn in back except where indicated otherwise.
