Difficulty: Easy

Finished Size: 40 (45.5, 49, 54, 58, 63)" bust circumference. Cardigan shown measures 45.5"; modeled with 13.5" of positive ease.

Specific Yarn Used: Blue Sky Fibers Bulky (50% alpaca, 50% wool; 45 yd [41 m]/ 3.5 oz [100 g]): #1223 coyote (MC), 10 (12, 14, 15, 18, 20) skeins. Blue Sky Fibers Extra (55% baby alpaca, 45% fine merino wool; 218 yd[199 m]/5.25 oz [150 g]): #3520 shale (CC),2 (2, 3, 3, 3, 3) skeins.

Needles: Sizes 9 (5.5 mm) and 13 (9 mm): 32" circular (cir). Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.

Notions: Marker (m); stitch holders; tapestry needle.

Gauge: 9 sts and 13 rows = 4" in Broken rib with MC on larger needles; 13 sts and 18 rows = 4" in St st with CC held double on smaller needles.

Notes: The body of this cardigan is worked in one piece to the underarm, then divided for working the fronts and back separately. Stitches for the sleeves are picked up around the armhole and the sleeves are worked from the top down. A circular needle is used to accommodate the large number of stitches. The sleeves are worked using two strands of contrasting-color yarn held together.
