Description

Knit a saucy red beret to pull on over your ears when those soon-to-be-winter days start to tug on your spirit. The designer worked her little hat in a tweedy red and topped it with a perky I-cord detail. She recommends wearing the beret at a slight tilt to encourage a little bounce in your step. Because this hat is a one-skein project, you can easily make a second beret in a misty gray for days when you’re feeling serious.

Finished Size: 19 (22 ½)” head circumference. Beret shown measures 19″.
Yarn: Tahki Donegal Tweed (100% wool; 183 yd [167 m]/100 g): #840 red, 1 (2) skein(s).
Yarn weight: #4 – Medium
Gauge: 17 sts and 27 rows = 4″ in St st; 19 sts and 27 rows = 4″ in 1 x 1 rib, slightly stretched.
Needles: Size 6 (4 mm): set of 5 double-pointed (dpn) and 16″ circular (cir). Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.
Notions: Markers (m); tapestry needle.
