If you enjoy creating necklaces that have front clasps as part of the overall design, then this toggle clasp is perfect for you. This 3-in-1 focal/pendant/clasp can be textured in any manner–not just etched–and embellished with any manner of disc beads, buttons or other flat beads, making it a very fun and versatile piece to try. And the perfect piece to be front and center!

Required Materials:

  • 18-gauge copper wire, about 8″
  • 12-gauge copper wire, about 5″
  • Copper chain of choice, 16-18″
  • Copper jump rings, at least 18-gauge, 2
  • Miscellaneous beads

Tools: Pickle pot; Pickling compound; Ferric chloride for etching; Shallow disposable container; Packing tape; Rubber stamp; Ink pad; Baking soda; Steel block; Jeweler’s saw or metal shears; Round-nose pliers; Chain-nose pliers; 1.8mm hole punch or drill; Butane torch; Magnesium soldering block; Diamond files; Sanding block
Technique: Filing, shearing, etching, annealing
