This Asian-inspired jacket makes the most of directional texture.

Description

In this unusual jacket, the designer has worked a tiny cable-rib pattern in different directions for the fronts, back, and sleeves. The back is worked side to side, as are the fronts (including the shawl collar); the sleeve cuffs are worked sideways, then stitches are picked up for the sleeves and worked in the normal way to the armholes. The overall effect is a rich interplay of directional texture. Elastic cord is threaded along the center front and neck edges for stability and to prevent stretching. Use a decorative stickpin for an attractive closure.

Yarn: Goddess Yarns Emmanuela (100% merino; 90 yd [82 m]/50 g): #6414 crimson, 22 (24, 28, 30, 32) balls.
