Description

The clasp is made of three generous pieces of sheet sterling silver that are easy to hold. The clasp is topped with a glass cabochon that magnifies the interior.

Materials:

  • 20 mm glass cabochon
  • 1” x 6” piece of 24ga sterling silver sheet
  • 3 closed 16ga jump rings with an inside diameter of 4 mm
  • Hard solder
  • Medium solder

Tools:

Safety: Ventilation, eye protection, magnification

Hand: Sharpie Pro Permanent Marker with chisel tip, fine tipped black Sharpie, bench pin, precious measuring sqaure, sharp scribe, jeweler’s saw with 4/0 blades and lubricant, 3M Scotch removable adhesive putty, dividers, digital calipers, jeweler’s ruler in millimeters and inches, flat file, 12” machinists file, needle files, acetone, wipes, bench block, hallmarking stamps and chasing hammer, non-marring hammer, set of doming tools, parallel pliers, salon-style sanding sticks in a variety of grits. A calculator is handy.

Soldering: Respirator or soldering ventilation system, 6”x6” Solderite soldering board; cutters, soldering pick, fine tweezers, air/acetylene Smith Silversmith torch with #0 tip and take of fuel, Prip’s flux in spray bottle, quench, pickle pot and copper tongs

Stone setting: Burnishing tool
