Try this large, colorful tote bag made with tapestry crochet. The front and back square panels are worked in the round with stitches worked over the nonworking color, and the sides are embroidered with surface slip stitch.

Specific Yarn Used: Paintbox Yarns Cotton Aran (100% cotton; 93 yd [85 m]/1¾ oz [50 g]; #602 pure black (A), 3 skeins; #627 slate green (B), 2 skeins; #616 red wine (C) and #603 champagne white (D), 1 skein each.

Hook: Size 7 (4.5 mm). Adjust hook size if necessary to obtain correct gauge.

Notions: Yarn needle; 12″ x 1¼ ” strips of corrugated plastic, 2.

Gauge: 16 sts = 4″ and 4 rnds = 4″ in diameter.
