Description

Fuse these metals for a dramatic cuff.

Skills: Basic metalsmithing, soldering, alloying and stone setting

Materials Needed to Complete This Project:

  • 3”x 6” piece of mild steel sheet, 18 gauge (1.214mm) or 20 gauge (.911mm)
  • Gold for fusing: 1.5 grams of 24k casting grains or 1”x1” sheet of 30 gauge 14-24K gold
  • Optional: Pearl and post with back plate or cabochon and with bezel wire

    • Tools Needed to Complete This Project:

  • Sketch pad, tracing paper, jeweler’s saw, files, sandpaper, Handy Flux B-1, Sparex No. 1
  • Plastic tongs, brass scrub brush, pumice soap, denatured alcohol, abrasive hand pad, calipers
  • Metal shears, soldering setup, torch, flux, tweezers, vermiculite or kitty litter, forming hammer, wooden block, oval bracelet mandrel
  • Polishing wheels and cloths, patina (Birchwood Casey M20 or other for ferrous metals), small soft paint brush, sealer
  • Foam paint brush
