Create a star garland knitting pattern by working in the round to create the pentagon center and then worked each point back and forth. Use it for a decoration in your home during any season.

Description

This quick and easy Star Garland is a lovely decoration for your home or for an outdoor party among trees with your family and friends. Each star is based on a pentagon that is worked from the center out and five triangles that form the points of the star. Worked with a DK-weight yarn in bright or muted colors, it is a quick knit. Combine the two sizes given and your favorite colors and make yourself or your best friend a nice present. A single star can also be a decorative adornment on top of a pretty wrapped gift for a good friend.

Designer: Claudia Eisenkolb

Specific Yarn Used:Wollmeise DK (100% superwash merino; 468 yd [428 m]/7 oz [200 g]): Mont Blanc (greyish blue; A), Flaschenpost (greenish teal; B), Erbse (bright green; C), Ahoi (blue; D), Koralle (red; E), Gänsefüsschen (orange; F), 1 skein each (see Notes).
Needles: Size U.S. 2½ (3 mm): set of double-pointed needles (dpns). Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.

  • Each star starts as a pentagon worked in the round for the center. Then each of the five points is worked individually back and forth.
  • Twenty grams of each color are enough to make one small and one large star.
