St. Gallen, Switzerland, is said to be the birthplace of dotted swiss fabric. Since 1750, this rhythmic repeat of dots has graced countless designs, yet it still feels fresh more than 270 years later. The St. Gallen Cowl is worked in the round as a tube, then grafted. The spotted pattern is achieved with slipped stitches, so only one yarn is used per round.

Yarn Blue Sky Fibers Woolstok Worsted (100% fine highland wool;370 yd [338 m]/5¼ oz [150 g]): #1304Grey Harbor (MC), 1 (2) balls; #1317 Midnight Sea (CC), 1 ball.
Needles Size 6 (4 mm): 16″ circular(cir). Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge. Size 4 (3.5 mm) or smaller: 16″ circular(cir).
Notions Marker (m); locking stitch markers; waste yarn; size E/4 (3.5 mm) crochet hook; tapestry needle.
Gauge 22 sts and 42 rows = 4″ in Swiss Dot patt on larger needle.
