Boys have limited ideas about what they want in a sweater — no flashy colors, no added embellishments — just the basics, and with a hood. This basic pullover, worked in two colors, is darker at the bottom and lighter at the top. The uneven rib pattern on the hood adds a reversible texture and looks good worn up as well as folded down. Hit the simple sweater bulls-eye and knit a sweater every boy will want.

• Cotton Fleece by Brown Sheep Company, 80% cotton, 20% merino wool (215 yds/100g) in following colors/amounts: 1 skein 822 Milk  Chocolate (A); 3 (3, 4, 5) skeins 105 Putty (B)
• U.S. size 7 (4.5mm) needles, or size required for gauge
• Stitch holders
• Yarn needle
