Description

One way to combat pooling is to change the length of yarn needed to complete a round. Charlene Schurch reached into her bag of tricks and came up with bobbles, eyelets, and a curving vertical pattern. There’s plenty of visual interest in these socks-and they’re a fun knit, too!

Finished Size: About 6 (7V, 9)” foot circumference and 6 (9X, 10)” (15 [19, 25.5] cm) long from back of heel to tip of toe.
Yarn: Fingering weight (Super Fine #1). Shown here: Colinette JitterBug (100% merino wool; 318 yd [291 m]/110 g): #23 slate, 1, (2, 2) skeins.
Needles: Upper leg-U.S. size 3 (3.0 mm): set of 4 double-pointed (dpn). Lower leg and foot-U.S. size 2 (2.5 mm): set of 4 dpn. Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.
Notions: Marker (m); tapestry needle.
Gauge: 16 stitches and 22 rounds = 2″ (5 cm) in stockinette stitch worked in the rnd on smaller needles.
