Description

This cardigan articulates a simple, basic silhouette with finely wrought details: narrow twist-stitch panels adorn the front bands and saddle shoulders, while picot-edged hems give an unexpectedly finished look to a rustic classic. The designer uses a traditional Scottish-style tweed wool with both heathery depth and colored neps to make a cardigan that is at once soft and hard-wearing.

Finished Size: 35 (37, 41, 45, 49, 53)” bust circumference. Cardigan shown measures 37″, modeled with about 3″ positive ease.
Yarn: Rowan Scottish Tweed DK (100% wool; 123 yd [113 m]/50 g): #15 apple, 8 (9, 11, 12, 14, 16) balls. Rowan Scottish Tweed 4 ply (100% wool; 120 yd [110 m]/25 g): #15 apple, 2 (2, 2, 2, 3, 3) balls. Yarns distributed by Westminster Fibers.
Yarn weight: #3 – Light
Gauge: 21 sts and 30 rows = 4″ in St st with DK yarn; 24 sts = 4″ wide in twisted st patt.
Needles: Size 4 (3.5 mm): 40″ circular (cir). Cir needle is needed for finishing; body can be worked on straight needles if desired. Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.
Notions: Eight ½” snaps; markers (m); waste yarn; tapestry needle.
