Create a beautiful set of bezel-set earrings reminiscent of ripples on a lake. Circles inside of circles suggest the effects of a stone being dropped into water. A quick project for intermediate metalsmiths, the Ripples Earrings work up easily and are sure to stun.

Description

If you’re starting to explore bezel setting, this is a great project for you. The assembly is straightforward, you won’t need any super specific tools, and you don’t even need to saw anything if that’s not your jam. They come together quickly, and you’ll have a great time practicing soldering, bezel setting, and finishing.

Skills: Intermediate metalsmithing

Materials:

  • Two 10mm round pyritized agate cabochons
  • Two 33mm of sterling silver 2.5mm tall 28 ga bezel wire
  • Two 75mm of 18 ga sqaure sterling silver wire
  • 22-gauge sterling silver for bezel bases
  • Two sterling silver earring posts and backs
  • Hard, medium, and easy solder

Tools:

Half round pliers, ruler, flush cutters, jewelers saw or disc cutter, files, ring mandrel, bezel mandrel, rawhide or nylon mallet, 400 and 600 grit sandpaper, solder setup, stone setting setup, polishing setup
