A bell shape for a belle sweater.

Description

This designer has a knack for lending a new twist to classic sweater patterns. Here, she’s taken the basic raglan pullover, added a bit of width to the lower edge, then drawn in the yoke with a few wide ribs. The result is a comfortable pullover with a subtle and modern bell shape. The sweater is worked in pieces from the lower edges upward. The yarn is used double at a gauge of less than three stitches to the inch. Translation: It’s a very quick knit.

Finished Size: 38 (42, 46, 50)” (96.5 [106.5, 117, 127] cm) bust/chest circumference. Sweater shown measures 38″ (96.5 cm).
Yarn: Reynolds Dover (100% washable wool; 82 yd [75 m]/50 g): #15 olive, 18 (20, 22, 25) skeins.
Yarn weight: #4 – Medium
Gauge: 11 sts and 15 rows = 4″ (10 cm) in St st on larger needles with yarn doubled.
Needles: Body and Sleeves—Size 13 (9 mm). Neckband—Size 10 ½ (6.5 mm). Adjust needle sizes if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.
Notions: Markers (m); tapestry needle.
