An easy hat worked flat then seamed together tightly to create a ruche.

Description

This simple hat is worked flat in garter stitch with basic crown shaping. The hat is seamed after knitting then the seaming yarn is cinched to ruche the side of the hat. Add optional embellishments to make the hat truly unique.

Finished Size: 17 ¾” circumference and 9 ¼” tall, to fi t an adult.
Yarn: Classic Elite Ariosa (90% merino, 10% cashmere; 87 yd [78 m]/50 g): #4855 russet, 2 skeins.
Yarn weight: #4 – Medium
Gauge: 14 sts and 30 rows (15 ridges) = 4″ in garter st.
Needles: Size 9 (5.5 mm) needles. Adjust needle sizes if necessary to obtain correct gauge.
Notions: Yarn needle, embellishments (optional): two 1″ buttons, 12″ of ribbon, or brooch (see page 96 to read more about these options).
