• Examine a variety of pattern-writing styles, and learn why a style sheet is so important.
• Manage stitch instructions, charts, and schematics with ease.
• Understand the supporting roles of test knitters, sample knitters, and tech editors—and whether or not you need them.

Skill Level: Intermediate & up. Students should possess at least basic knitting skills, be interested in design, and have familiarity with written knitting instructions and charts.
Materials Required: Notebook and pen.

• Pattern templates for a variety of projects, to help you get started
• Discussion board: The discussion board is a great way to interact with other users in the Online Workshop. It’s an open forum for you to ask questions, share your thoughts, and express your inspirations.
• Notes: This is a place for you to keep personal notes to help you with your work and the Online Workshop content. Only you will be able to see your notes.

About the instructor:
Kate Atherley is a mathematician and refugee from the technology industry. She works as the Lead Technical Editor for Knitty magazine as well as a designer and the author of Knit Mitts,  Custom Socks: Knit to Fit Your Feet, Beyond Knit & Purl, The Beginner’s Guide to Writing Knitting Patterns, as well as the Online Workshops Math for Knitters, Find Your Fit: Understanding & Altering Knitting Patterns, andFixing Knitting Mistakes. She teaches regularly near her home in Ontario and at national and international events.
