Women’s elegant poncho with bind-off join of sleeve in a contrasting color.

Description

This garment is a prime example of Catherine Lowe’s influence. Made in two pieces, it is designed so “one size fits most.” Using Catherine Lowe Yarns in four strands of alpaca and two strands of silk ensures that the drape of this casual, but elegant, poncho is dramatic and perfect for a spring or summer cover-up. Charles worked a bind-off join in a contrast color along the top of the sleeves, which is echoed in the edging around the perimeter of the piece.

Finished Size: 47¼” wide and 23″ tall.
Yarn: Catherine Lowe Yarns Alpaca #2 (100% royal baby alpaca): bronze (MC1), 1800 yd. Catherine Lowe Yarns Silk #2 (100% silk): bronze (MC2), 1800 yd. Catherine Lowe Yarns Silk/Mohair #1 (60% kid mohair, 40% silk): bronze (MC3), 1800 yd. Catherine Lowe Yarns Silk #4 (100% silk): peacock (CC), 200 yd.
Needles Size: 6 (4 mm): 32″ circular (cir). Edging–size 1½ (2.5 mm): two 60″ cir, one double-pointed (dpn) (optional for bind-off). Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.
Notions: Markers (m); tapestry needle.
Gauge: 22 sts and 30 rows = 4″ in St st with MC1, MC2, and MC3 held tog on larger needle; 28 sts and 33 rows = 4″ in rev St st with CC on smaller needle.
