Description

Set fossil whale bone, coral, pearl, and diamond in a marine-themed pendant.

Skills: General bench skills, Lapidary, Bezel setting

Materials Needed to Complete this Project:

  • Fossil whale bone rough or slab 
  • Coral branch or other accent 
  • Large freshwater pearl 
  • 14-gauge sterling silver flat wire, 4mm x enough length to cover circumference of your focal stone 
  • 8-10" 14-gauge sterling silver round wire
  • 20 gauge sterling silver sheet, enough focal back plate 
  • 5 2.0mm round diamonds, approximately .03ct each or .15ct total weight (I used VVS1 F/G color) 
  • 18K white gold tubing that will fit
  • 2.0mm diamonds (approximately 1.7mm inside diameter and 2.3mm outside diameter), or purchase pre-azured bezels to fit
  • 330 epoxy

?Tools Needed to Complete This Project

  • General bench tools
  • Lapidary equipment (I use a Genie from Diamond Pacific but any
    decent lapidary machine will do)
  • Gemstone template or design your own shape
