Description

Inspired by the colors of the aurora borealis, this jacket is worked in the round with midnight green and spruce wool/mohair yarns.

Finished Size: 33 ½ (36, 39 ½, 42 ¾, 46)” bust circumference. Jacket shown measures 36″.
Yarn: Brown Sheep Lamb’s Pride Worsted (85% wool, 15% mohair; 190 yd [173 m]/113 g): #M195 midnight green (MC, dark green), 5 (6, 6, 7, 8) skeins; #M52 spruce (CC, blue-green), 2 skeins; #M113 oregano, #M175 bronze patina, #M51 winter blue (light blue), 1 skein each.
Yarn weight: #4 – Medium
Gauge: 19 sts and 23 rnds = 4″ in St st with single-st dots of CC worked in the rnd using both size needles for body and sleeves as given in Notes; 19 sts and 19 rnds = 4″ in patt from fancy color work section starting at Rnd 36 of body chart, and in patt from cuff and collar chart using larger needles.
Needles: Body and Sleeves—Sizes 8 (5 mm) and 9 (5.5 mm): 32″ and 16″ circulars (cir), set of 5 double-pointed (dpn). Facings—Size 7 (4.5 mm): 32″ and 16″ cir needles, set of 5 dpn. Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.
Notions: Markers (m); tapestry needle; 24 (24, 24, 24, 26)” separating zipper to match MC; sewing machine; sharp-point sewing needle and thread to match MC; 2 yd of ¾” cotton twill tape to coordinate with MC for finishing raw edges of steeks.
